My lecturer website design service helps you bring your academic profile, publications, and professional contact details together in one place. I am Dicky Ibrohim, a web engineer and technical lead. You discuss the requirements directly with me, including what belongs on the public website and what should remain within your university’s services.
Someone visiting your profile may have read one paper without understanding how it relates to your other work. A personal website gives you room to explain that connection for potential collaborators, students, and academic event organisers. Its structure should help them recognise the relevance of your work without turning your academic record into a series of promotional claims.
Introduce your academic interests before presenting the full record
The first page does not need to reproduce your entire CV. Your correct name and qualifications, current affiliation, research interests, and a short introduction can provide a starting point. Education, teaching experience, and academic activities can then appear in the appropriate sections.
I help establish those priorities so visitors understand the overall picture before opening the details. For example, a lecturer researching science education could introduce the questions they study and connect them to selected publications. That gives readers more context than a long list of terms or paper titles alone.
You provide the underlying information. A change in position or affiliation needs to be distinguished from the affiliation recorded on an earlier publication. Institutional names, logos, photographs, and quotations also need to come from material you may use; appearing on your website does not imply that an institution endorses everything it contains.
Connect selected work to sources readers can check
Publications can be organised by theme or year, depending on how readers can best understand your work. Each entry needs information that matches its source, such as authors, title, year, publication venue, and destination link. A preprint should be distinguished from a published article rather than presented as having the same status.
Your website does not have to duplicate an entire scholarly profile. Selected works can receive a brief explanation, with a link to the correct public profile for a fuller list. ORCID provides a persistent identifier for researchers; an ORCID link can connect an identity to its record, rather than certify expertise or guarantee research impact.
Google Scholar, SINTA, or university profile links are added only after their addresses and ownership have been confirmed. The Google Scholar profile guidance explains that a shared profile must be public for readers to see it and reminds authors to respect the rights to share uploaded articles. A reading link can therefore lead to an appropriate publisher page or repository. A PDF is not automatically uploaded just because you are named as an author.
Buttons can say “Read the article at the publisher” or “Download CV PDF”. Descriptive link text helps readers choose what to open, consistent with W3C guidance on link purpose. Checking links and how documents are presented can be included in the agreed work.
Separate public teaching materials from restricted class activities
A teaching section can introduce courses, an approach to learning, or materials intended for public use. A year or semester gives readers context. When a new version is available, its relationship to older material should be clear so the page does not direct people to the wrong document.
This section is not a replacement for a university’s academic systems. Grades, student lists, exam answers, and restricted class documents are not default content for a personal website. Where materials are available only through a university system, the website can point to the relevant official channel without making restricted access public.
Once readers understand your research and teaching, they need a way to contact you. A professional email address or a WhatsApp contact you choose can provide the initial channel. For collaboration questions or academic invitations, the page can ask senders to explain the topic, organiser, proposed time, and purpose. Sending a message is a request to communicate, not acceptance of an invitation or confirmation of your availability.
Why choose a custom website for your academic profile?
The value of a custom website lies in relationships between materials that reflect how you explain your work. We can discuss a route from a research interest to selected papers, then to relevant public resources or contact details. Readers gain context without first having to understand the structure of your CV.
With SaaS, a subscription platform operated by a provider, the layout and tools depend on the service you select. Check whether publication formats, languages, document storage, and profile links can be organised as you need. If a feature changes or is withdrawn under the service terms, you might need to adjust a publication list or the way you share materials. A ready-made platform can be sufficient when its plan already supports the profile formats and updates you need.
Working with me turns those needs into design and feature priorities before the scope is agreed. A research page might need connections between a theme and several publications, while the teaching section may only need a concise resource list. Custom development still works within the project’s technical capabilities, budget, and components; every idea is not automatically an included feature.
As your research interests or activities develop, the page structure and visual identity can be reconsidered. An additional language, a project section, or a different publication layout needs assessment along with its development cost. A personal domain is not exclusive to custom websites, and this work does not promise a stronger academic reputation. The benefit is being able to discuss how your academic work is represented directly with the person building the website.
Why work with an engineer when AI can generate a website?
AI can help produce designs and code, but an academic profile requires care that is not visible from its appearance alone. Similar paper titles can be confused, links can lead to a different publication, and generated summaries can describe conclusions more broadly than the source does. OWASP LLM09:2025 describes misinformation risks in language-model output; fluent text still needs checking.
Within the agreed work, I use AI with direction, review, and testing appropriate to the project. A useful check might follow a research theme to its selected publication, confirm that the label matches the link destination, and examine whether the CV opens clearly on a phone layout. An appealing demonstration does not establish that this sequence works correctly.
Academic content still requires your approval. Files used with AI tools also need to be selected according to the work and the tools’ terms; unpublished manuscripts and student data are not automatically inputs. An AI feature that runs for website visitors is a different requirement from using AI during development and is not assumed to be included.
Building with AI yourself can be sufficient if you can check the content, test the functions, and manage the website afterwards. Working directly with me gives you someone with whom to discuss these decisions: which materials to use, which functions are needed, and what should be checked before handover. You receive a development service that connects the profile’s needs to technical decisions, rather than just a generated result.
Readability and search foundations depend on accurate content
A profile often shared through links still needs to be readable on phones, laptops, and desktops. The design aims to keep the introduction from being buried under a long CV, make paper titles easy to scan, and give document buttons recognisable labels. Device checks, file sizes, and the elements addressed follow the project scope.
Websites are usually prepared with SEO, security, and performance foundations according to the proposal. For an academic profile, SEO work may cover page titles, research-topic structure, internal links, and document descriptions. The Google SEO Starter Guide provides background on the principles rather than a promise of search results. Indexing, rankings, traffic, AI citations, scholarly citations, and collaboration opportunities are not guaranteed.
Visitor statistics also need to be distinguished from information about people who contact you. A public profile, visitor analytics, message contents, operational logs, and administrator access have different purposes and access boundaries. If analytics are needed, we can discuss what is collected, its purpose, recipients, retention, and export options. A provider’s technical access does not automatically grant the right to use information for another purpose. A custom website using third-party hosting or analytics still has data flows that need to be understood.
Compare costs, updates, and options for continuing the website
The development cost depends on the depth of the profile, the number and format of publication lists, languages, content readiness, and editing facilities required. An editing panel is not automatically supplied. If you want to update publications yourself, agree which sections can be edited and how changed documents or links will be handled.
Compare freelancers, agencies, platforms, and my service on equivalent deliverables and responsibilities. A lower price does not by itself indicate poor work. Review initial or promotional charges, renewal rates, document storage, licences, additional features, update assistance, and exit costs. Third-party service prices may change under their applicable terms and notice arrangements; custom development is not automatically cheaper.
The agreement also needs to distinguish the domain, accounts, content rights, editing tools, and source code. Source code is not automatically handed over and is not always available. If a supporting service is interrupted or its provider closes, continuity depends on access, available backups, content formats, destination compatibility, and migration work. Downloading a CV and publication list is not the same as receiving a website that immediately runs on another host. Migration options and costs need discussion from the outset, including dependencies within my own service.
Maintenance remains relevant after launch. OWASP A06:2021 addresses vulnerable and outdated components. I also have experience with website malware removal, and website development clients can receive a more tailored offer for relevant follow-up assistance. Eligibility, scope, and fees are agreed before work; any warranty follows its written scope if offered. New vulnerabilities or reinfection remain possible, so that experience does not replace maintenance.
Start with a current CV and the work you want to introduce
You can prepare a current CV, an introduction to your academic interests, selected publications with their links, permitted photographs, and public scholarly profile addresses. Mark anything that needs updating, cannot yet be published, or requires another language. This helps distinguish building the pages from preparing the academic content.
I will discuss page priorities, updating arrangements, technical requirements, costs, and handover boundaries using those materials. You can read about my background in the Dicky Ibrohim profile and send your requirements through the contact form. We can then define a lecturer website that fits how you want to introduce your academic work.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a lecturer website cost?
Cost depends on profile depth, publication listings, languages, content readiness, and editing tools. Domain, hosting, storage, licences, and update costs need to be itemised as appropriate. Send initial materials through the contact form to discuss scope.
Does the website replace Google Scholar or ORCID?
No. It can introduce your work and provide context, then link to public profiles whose addresses and ownership have been confirmed. Automatic synchronisation is not an included default.
Can all publication PDFs be uploaded?
Only materials you have the right to share. Being an author does not automatically allow every version of a file to be uploaded. Links to the appropriate publisher or repository can be used instead.
Can it display teaching materials and receive invitations?
We can discuss public materials and your chosen email or WhatsApp contact. Grades, exams, student data, class systems, and invitation forms are not default functions. An invitation message does not confirm acceptance or availability.
Can I update the profile myself?
Editing facilities can be discussed in the proposal. Agree which sections can be changed, including affiliations, publications, and documents. A panel is not automatically supplied and does not necessarily cover every function or design change.
Will the website increase citations or guarantee visibility in Google and AI?
There is no guarantee of indexing, rankings, traffic, AI citations, scholarly citations, or career outcomes. Structure and technical foundations follow the agreed scope to help readers understand accurate information.
Are source code and migration included?
Source code is not automatically supplied and is not always available. Account access, materials, licences, backups, and migration follow the agreement. Exporting documents does not mean the whole website is ready to run on another host.
