This hotel website design service builds websites for hotels and villas that turn guests who already know you into direct bookings, with no OTA commission. The website has real photos that stay light on a phone, clear policies, and two languages. The booking button goes to WhatsApp or the booking engine you already use. Every one of them I build myself, from Jakarta, as a website engineer and technical lead.
It is for small and mid-sized hotels, villas, homestays, guesthouses, and small resorts. That includes properties that host foreign guests in Bali, Lombok, and Labuan Bajo. If you own a villa in Indonesia and manage it from abroad, everything here applies to you too. A booking engine, channel manager, and online payment are not part of the default package. The website embeds or links to the ones you already use.
In short
- Guests who find you on Google book directly, instead of through an OTA that takes 15 percent or more.
- The booking button goes to WhatsApp, an availability form, or your existing booking engine. A booking system of your own comes only when the volume is real.
- Indonesian and English versions, each with its own page address.
- The gallery stays light on phones. You update photos, rates, and policies yourself through a panel.
- Paid once, with no commission. Running costs are the domain, plus a server if you choose one. Free malware cleanup guarantee for 3 months.
- First step: tell me about your property through the form on the homepage.
How much goes to OTAs, and which guests could book directly?
OTA commission is the most common reason villa owners contact me. Airbnb says in its help centre that most hosts pay a 3 percent service fee under the split-fee model, or 15.5 percent under the host-only fee model. Booking.com, according to HolidayFox's summary for 2026, charges a base commission of 15 percent of the booking value, with more for the preferred partner programme.
OTAs still earn their place by bringing in guests who have never heard of you. The mistake is letting guests who already know you, or found you on Google, keep booking through an OTA because there is nowhere else to book.
SiteMinder's Hotel Booking Trends report on 2025 data was summarised by Hospitality Net in February 2026. It found the hotel website to be the channel with the highest value per booking, at 516 US dollars, and direct bookings grew 4.3 percent. The same report puts the cancellation rate in Indonesia at 11 percent, the lowest it measured.
The market is in good shape. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded 15.38 million foreign tourist arrivals in 2025, the highest since the pandemic. BPS Bali counted 5.89 million foreign visitors in the first ten months of 2025 alone.
What do guests look for on a hotel or villa website?
Guests who open a hotel or villa website look for the location first, then the room photos, then breakfast and WiFi. After that come the policies: check-in time, cancellation, children, and pets. TrustYou in May 2025 ranks location as the first criterion and names breakfast and WiFi as the facilities guests look for first. One thing is rarely mentioned: guests also want to know who they are dealing with, especially for a villa booked directly with no middleman.
The pages that answer those questions, in the same order:
- Rooms or villas: real photos of each type, capacity, facilities, and the starting rate.
- Location: a map, the distance to the beach or town centre, and how to get there from the airport.
- Facilities: pool, breakfast, WiFi, parking, kitchen, staff.
- Policies: check-in and check-out, cancellation, deposit, children and pets, quiet hours.
- About the owner and the legal details: business name, business identification number (NIB), official contact.
- FAQs, and a booking button on every page.
Reviews from OTAs and Google are linked, not copied. They remain the property of each platform, and guests trust a review more when they read it at the source.
Direct booking through WhatsApp or your existing booking engine: enough for most properties
The hotel and villa websites I build do not include a booking system of their own. The booking button leads to one of three options that fit the way you work. For owner-run villas and homestays, it opens WhatsApp. Otherwise it opens a short availability form that goes to your email, or the booking engine you already use, embedded on the room page. Payment runs through whatever you use today, such as a bank transfer or a payment link.
This flow is cheaper and safer. It also fits how guests in Indonesia behave: they almost always want to ask about dates and rates before they pay. A booking and payment system of your own makes sense only at a certain size. You need at least one reservations staff, and more requests than WhatsApp and the existing booking engine can handle, say dozens of rooms with high occupancy.
Such a system costs more to build, needs a server, and has to be maintained, so do not rush into it. I go through the same reasoning in the article on catalog stores with WhatsApp orders.
The availability form asks only for a name, contact details, dates, and the number of guests. It is protected against spam without a frustrating captcha, and it includes consent for data use.
Two languages, and found on Google and in AI answers by foreign guests
The hotel and villa websites I build come in Indonesian and English, each with its own page address. A search for "villa in Canggu with private pool" lands on the English version, and "villa Ubud untuk keluarga" on the Indonesian one. The content is laid out so that AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity quote it correctly. Foreign guests now often use them to plan a trip before they open an OTA. Your property details are matched to your Google Business Profile.
Speed is targeted to pass Core Web Vitals on phones and laptops, even with a gallery of dozens of photos. The photos you upload are tidied on the way in. As a reference, the site you are reading follows the same approach and scored 94 on Lighthouse mobile on 12 October 2026. A guest who opens your website on mobile data at the airport does not wait for a heavy gallery.
Licences, hotel tax, and reporting foreign guests: what to know when you write the pages
A hotel or villa website should show the business name and business identification number (NIB), because travel agents and corporate guests now check for them. Since Government Regulation 28/2025 on risk-based business licensing, every property holds an NIB and a standard certificate issued through the OSS system. Which one depends on the business code, for example hotel, villa, or pondok wisata (small guesthouse licence).
The regional tax on hotel services (PBJT) is best mentioned on the rates page so guests are not surprised when they pay. Under Law 1/2022 it covers hotels, villas, pondok wisata, and guesthouses at a rate of up to 10 percent.
For foreign guests, the operator must report their arrival through the Foreigner Reporting Application (APOA) run by the Directorate General of Immigration. The website does not handle that report, but the policy page can say that passports will be recorded at check-in, so guests understand before they arrive. I am not a licensing or tax consultant; the content about permits, tax rates, and policies comes from you.
Tracking, if you advertise
If the property advertises on Google or Meta for a particular season, tracking can be set up down to specific actions. Those are a tap on the WhatsApp button, a click on the booking engine link, or a form sent. Pixels and tags are installed from your ad accounts, not mine, and they only run after the visitor agrees. Without ads, the website runs in full with no tracking at all.
Malware-resistant, with a free 3 month cleanup guarantee
The hotel and villa websites I build use the same security standard as this site, which scored A+ on securityheaders.com and Mozilla HTTP Observatory on 12 October 2026. Yours can be put through the same tools. I leave the technique out of this article deliberately, so it never becomes a how-to for intruders.
A hacked hotel website can show gambling ads in English to foreign guests, or swap your WhatsApp number for a scammer's. That is why your website comes with a free malware cleanup guarantee for 3 months from launch. The guarantee period is stated on the proof of payment; other packages give 1 to 6 months. During that period I do the cleanup at no extra charge. I remove the malicious code, restore the website files from the latest backup, and close the entry point found on the website I handed over.
After the guarantee ends, cleanup is billed separately, and a serious case can run to tens of millions of rupiah. The guarantee is a commitment to a cleanup service, not compensation. It does not cover staff negligence such as shared passwords, changes made by other parties, or outages at the server or domain provider you chose. Components that go out of date after the guarantee ends without renewal are also excluded. The details are on the terms page. I offer this guarantee because cleaning hacked websites is part of my routine work.
Cost: paid once, no commission, light running costs
This website is paid for once, in stages, with a written breakdown, and it takes no commission from the bookings that come in. After the site is live, you pay for the domain, and for a server only if you opt for one. A profile website with a gallery and a form usually runs without a monthly server. Do the maths yourself: one direct booking a month that would otherwise go through an OTA already covers a year of domain fees.
Support after handover is optional: fixes, updates to website components, and limited help when you need it, with no year-long contract. You update photos, rates, seasonal promotions, and policies yourself through the panel. Extra features later are built through the same service at a special rate, for example a booking system of your own, a page per property for managers of several villas, or a third language.
Ready to use, in your name, source code if you need it
The default for this service is a ready-to-use website. The built files live on your domain, the domain and accounts are in the owner's name, and you get a panel for editing content plus a handover document. The files can be moved to any hosting provider, and if you ever change who manages it, my access is simply revoked and the website keeps running.
The source code is not handed over by default. By source code I mean the project files used to rebuild the website and change its structure. For villa owners and small hotels this works in your favour. The cost is much lower, everything that changes often (photos, rates, promotions) stays in your hands through the panel, and my support covers the version I handed over in full.
The code is worth buying only if you have your own IT team or plan a large booking system on your own schedule. That option is priced on its own, costs far more, and sometimes cannot be given at all if the website uses licensed parts. Its status is written in the offer.
Why villa owners should not build it themselves with AI, hire an agency with no clear accountability, or settle for a free hosting template
| Consideration | Building it yourself with AI | An agency with no clear accountability | A free hosting template | Built by an engineer (this service) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo gallery on phones | Real photos uploaded as they are, heavy pages | Rarely measured | Weighed down by template components | Measured before handover |
| Two languages | Machine translation with no separate addresses | Depends | Rarely supported | A separate page address per language |
| Booking button and booking engine | Often points the wrong way or goes untested | Depends | A built-in form prone to spam | Tested until messages arrive and links are right |
| Security | Nobody monitors it | Untested | Updated along with thousands of other sites | Tested with public tools, 3 month cleanup guarantee |
| Ownership | Yours, but only you understand it | Domain sometimes in the agency's name | Tied to the hosting | Domain, accounts, website: all in the owner's name |
| Yearly costs | AI tool and builder subscriptions | Monthly retainer | Free until you need a feature | Domain, plus a server if chosen |
AI can produce a villa page that looks finished. The description sounds like a thousand other villas, and the gallery weighs down your guests' phones. I described the mistakes in a website built entirely by AI without review in the online store case. An agency where it is unclear who does the work often installs pixels and registers the domain in its own name. When the contract ends, it all leaves with them. A free hosting template is fine for a single room, then becomes a burden once you need two languages or a booking engine.
I am not the right choice if you need your own booking engine and channel manager from day one. For that, pick a provider, and the website simply embeds it.
Who is behind this hotel website design service?
This hotel and villa website design service is run by me, Dicky Ibrohim, website engineer and technical lead; my profile is on the about page. Day to day I build websites and apps, repair the ones that break, and clean up the ones hit by malware. Thousands of cases are behind me. I use AI to speed up the parts that repeat, then test the result myself. That includes opening the website from a phone on mobile data and checking that the booking button reaches you.
I am not a hotel operator or a licensing consultant. Your rates, your policies, and your licence status come from you. The material I produce is licensed; the material you provide is warranted by you.
Process: from room photos to launch
- Tell me about your property through the form on the homepage: room types and how many, location, languages, and your booking engine, if any.
- A written offer within one or two business days: page structure, schedule, fees and payment stages, server needs, the malware guarantee period, and the scope of optional support.
- A short interview: room types and rates, facilities, policies, how you take bookings today, and the questions guests ask most often.
- Text and design in two languages: I draft them, you review and approve them, especially the rates and policy pages.
- Preview on phone and laptop: the WhatsApp button, the form, and the booking engine links are tested until they reliably get through.
- **Launch and handover: access, ownership documents, and a panel guide are handed to you. Then the booking links on your OTA profiles and Maps are pointed to the website.
What you need to prepare
- Business name, address, business identification number (NIB), and the WhatsApp number and email that receive bookings.
- A list of room or villa types with capacity, facilities, and starting rates.
- Real photos of each room type, the shared areas, and the surroundings.
- Policies for check-in, cancellation, deposit, children, and pets.
- Links to your OTA profiles, Google Business Profile, and booking engine, if any.
Eight questions to ask before choosing someone to build your hotel or villa website
- Can the booking button point to WhatsApp or the booking engine I already use? (Yes; that is the default flow.)
- Will a gallery of dozens of room photos stay light on phones? (Yes, measured with public tools.)
- Does the English version have its own page address? (Yes.)
- Who owns the domain and accounts? (You do.)
- What if malware gets into the website? (Cleanup is free during the 3 month guarantee stated on the proof of payment.)
- Which costs recur, and is there any commission? (The domain, plus a server if chosen; no commission; support is not required.)
- Can I change photos, rates, and policies myself? (Yes, through the panel.)
- Can a booking system of my own be added later? (Yes, at a special rate.)
First step: tell me about your property
A guest who already knows your name should not have to pay OTA commission to come back. A website with honest photos, clear policies, two languages, and a booking button that reaches you directly is what this hotel website design service is about.
Tell me about your property through the form on the homepage or email hello@dickyibrohim.com. I reply with the page structure that fits, the cost, and an estimated launch date before your next high season.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a hotel or villa website cost?
The build fee is paid once, in stages, with a written breakdown. After launch, the running costs are the domain, plus a server only if you choose one; support is optional. The amount depends on the number of rooms or villas, one language or two, and whether it needs to connect to a booking engine. I send it after you tell me about your property through the form on the homepage.
I am already on Booking.com and Airbnb. Do I still need my own website?
OTAs bring in new guests, and that is valuable. Your own website serves guests who already know you or found you on Google, so their next booking no longer loses 15 percent or more in commission. The two run side by side; the website links to your OTA profiles.
Does this website come with a booking engine or online payment?
Not by default. The booking button goes to WhatsApp, an availability form, or the booking engine you already use. A third-party booking engine can be embedded or linked, and a booking system of your own can be built later once the volume is real.
Can it be in two languages, Indonesian and English?
Yes, and for Bali I recommend it from the start. Each language has its own page address, so guests from Australia or Singapore land on the English version and domestic guests on the Indonesian one.
Can I change photos, rates, and policies myself?
Yes. Photos, starting rates, seasonal promotions, and policies are changed through a simple panel. Uploaded photos are tidied automatically so pages stay light.
Do legal details need to appear on the website?
Your business identification number (NIB) and licence type help guests and travel agents confirm that your property is legitimate. Since Government Regulation 28/2025, every accommodation business uses risk-based licensing through OSS, and showing it on the website does no harm.
Do I receive the source code?
By default you get a ready-to-use website: the built files live on your domain, can be moved to any hosting, and come with access and a handover document. The source code is a separate option with its own fee and is not always available; its status is written in the offer.
What if the website gets malware?
The website comes with a free malware cleanup guarantee for 3 months from launch, as stated on the proof of payment; other packages give 1 to 6 months. It is a cleanup service, not compensation; the scope and exclusions are on the terms page.
When does a hotel or villa need its own booking and payment system?
Once there is at least one reservations staff member and direct requests can no longer be handled through WhatsApp and the existing booking engine, for example dozens of rooms with high occupancy. A system of your own costs more to build and maintain, so do not rush into it.
